ZOOM! with Panasonic
CORPORATE EVENTS MANAGEMENT.
Temasek Poly, Diploma in Business (Corporate Communications)
This module was one that I was totally looking forward to. Because, we get to plan our very own event. Real-Life event, with a Client though.
For the past few months, my classmates & I have been working on our project & FINALLY, today marks the end of it. We managed to pull through & make the event happen! Phew!
If I said these few months has been easy, I would be lying.
At one point of time, all of us were like that...
Looking up into the sky, asking GOD how now yo?
We practically experienced the entire progressive process of conceptualizing and planning a corporate event – From meeting and working with a real-life client, Panasonic, facing problems with the event, to finally delivering the project and handling post event matters such as sending thank you emails and photographs to stakeholders.
Most importantly, I experienced and learnt the hard truths about events – what can go wrong will go wrong. THAT'S MURPHY'S LAW FOR YOU!
The EXCOs & the awesome classmates have been trying to kill MURPHY. Screw You MURPHY!!! :/ Mr Murphy, YOU DON'T KNOW HOW MUCH WE HATE YOU! :(
Through the process of making this event possible, I took ownership for the event, mainly because I was the Organising Committee Chairperson and I felt the need to do so. I have given my all for this project which also meant I challenged my potential in handling such a huge event, eventually learning a lot from it. This event also gave me chance to do cold calls and daringly make requests from sponsors, etc. I could boldly say now that I understand the importance of having contacts. Because in events, sometimes you really need to base on past good working relationships ‘guan xi’ to get things done.
So here's how the event flow went:
Arrived at TAS at 6.30am in the morning. Zoom passed the highways with super good traffic in the early morning. Thanks to Ryan's dad for sending us girls to the site.
Glad to see the tentage there at least!
Started off with cycling all 40 bikes from Mr Chng's GoGreen shop @ Siloso Beach, all the way down to Tourism Academy of Sentosa (TAS)
Then did some setup and balloons and goodiebags and registration and AV matters.
Soon, the volunteers arrived.
It was time to brief the class & the volunteers.
Just when I thought everything was in place, MURPHY STRIKED! :/
It started to drizzle, then POURED LIKE MAD. Cats & Dogs.
So we had to quickly decide on what alternative plan to take. Ohwells, but you see, instead of whining, start praying! Yes, I refused to let the rain dampen our spirits and work on changing the programme flow instead. We swopped the programme around hoping to drag time for the rain to stop. Thank God, we managed to pull it off & everything went back on track, when the rain indeed stopped! (: Amen.
The kids & the volunteers were able to cycle around Sentosa, to complete their station games!
YAY!
At 9.45am, we finally saw 2 buses approaching the tentage. We were so excited to meet the kids!
They looked so cute as they come down from the huge bus.
Registration:
Cheryl & I took over as Emcees, we welcomed them!
GOOD MORNING EVERYONE!
& as usual, I had fun interacting with the kids.
We carried out the 1st part of the programme, asking them to design and draw in their diaries.
I told them 'HELLOOO You all can use your favourite colours when colouring okay. M
ust colourful colourful ah. Jiejie likes Pink, you can use Pink ok!'... to think, this girl nodded her head and she really used alot of Pink & she when she was done colouring so told me 'Jiejie, I used pink cause you said you like pink'. AWWW! So sweet right! (:
Best Friends.
After the diary drawing, the rain really stopped! YAY! Proceeded to Orginial plan of using the Eneloop bikes & travelling around Sentosa Island to play the 4 station games...
As the rest were out of the TAS Tentage, now, some of us were left with the diaries.
We had to complete 150 of them. Thank God we managed to hit 150!!! I was very happy as I was counting ^^
The magical number 150!
Time for lunch!

Time for some camwhoring, as I was alone :(
The rest went off to cycle the bikes back to the bike shop, whereas I decided to sacrifice by staying alone to take care of their bags. But, I had fun!
