Hi there! I’m Samantha,

and this space encompasses my personal milestones made beautiful in His time. Combining my flair for easy-to-read writing and my love for photography, here you'll find me sharing the thing I'm most passionate about - travel, food, fashion and my conversations with God.

*P.S when God was blessing others with the gift of height, He left me out realizing that great things come in tiny packages, so instead I am gifted with endless energy and a big wide smile to get through difficult times.

Forever & always, a child of God. Through this cozy little virtual haven, I hope each post inspires at least someone out there with my life stories.

Oasis @ Toa Payoh

After SPECIAL SERVICE 'CRAVE', we had a mini bonding cum celebration of the ESS dinner.

We chartered a shuttle bus down to the dinner place at Toa Payoh! Because there were simply too many people going, practically half of the POLYDINS group! All the TP, NS & 20-something, Leaders GROUP down. That's about more than 100 people?

Jovey's leaf from COSPLAY! Wow, I just had to take a picture of it with my flower, you know, like an extension! haha :>

On the way there, we took quite a number of pictures, check my FB for them!

& so after a while, we arrived at OASIS!
Many would remember it better as the place previously at Kallang Indoor Stadium.
They were there before moving over to this new ground. It looks so much better! Through it's very isolated and on an ulu land...

Reason why we went there was because there's FREE FLOW of Porridge! Let the Porridge war among the 'Fan-Dongs' start!

Very pretty, by itself, right? (:

& yes, they have this pretty lakeside there as well. Pity we went there late or else the scenery would be much nicer I bet!

It has both indoor and outdoor dining. We sat outdoors because it was full indoors already.

I like the concept of having it 2 stories, because the view from the top was really nice :)

Payment made by UOB cards have 15% off! YAY! (:

The main entrance!
It gives me the very grand - chinese feel... but I like it, back to the olden times...

The free flow of Porridge! I was full super early and ended up helping them take porridge over and over again. I like the feeling of finishing every container. and also since, they were quite shorthanded. Suddenly half of our church service people went down!

But, I must say... The service of the staff was good and the food was served quite quickly, considering the huge crowd!

Look how excited we got!

We ordered 8 dishes for 10 people on our table!
Other people from other tables who came over said we were having a feast! But, I guess it wasn't a lot and we didn't over order, because we could really eat and didn't waste any food!

Omelette with Prawns

The smell of it was very fragrant! I like the prawns and upon biting into it, it was really crunchy! However, I'm not a fan of this dish, not at Oasis in particular. Because no matter which restaurant I go to, it's always super oily, especially the sides. Which I dislike!

Stir-Fried Vegetables

I like this dish! The sauce and method of cooking is of a perfect combination. The smoothness of
the vegetable and a little salty sauce makes it go well with plain porridge.

Braised Pork Intestine & Salted Vegetable Combination Dish

I'm not an adventourous foodie who has tried Pig Intestine, so I shall not comment, however my friends who ate it said it was very nice and chewy! I guess they are reliable because Jen recommended it and it's her 2nd time there. Must have been good that's why she ordered it again. I tried the salted vegetables though. It's nice and likewise the vegetables above, the saltiness compliments the plain porridge. However, I've eaten better salted vegetables before...

Beancurd w Salted Egg

Not a fan of salted egg, I tried the beancurd instead. It was juicy filled with the sauce. We squeezed on that refreshing drops of lime and it became very refreshing. I like it that way!

Stir-Fried Sambal Clams

It was really very oily due to the sambal, but the clams were really fresh!

Cold Beancurd w Pork Floss

One of my all-time favourite dishes. However, for me personally, I won't recommend eating this dish at Oasis. Because the sauce was too thick, too sticky and too sweet. Doesn't compliment the healthiness and refreshing-ness of the beancurd.

Claypot Beancurd

Something warm always goes well with plain porridge! Well, this gravy is definitely a good porridge taste enhancer! The tofu is quite smooth and silky, easy to goof down your throats! Besides the beancurd, the other stuffs in the claypot - Vegetables and Pork, wasn't very appealing to me.

Good Food ; Good Company!

The Business Girls - TP BUSINESS, HOPE CHURCH SINGAPORE! :>

That's what Jane & I do after dinner, we were so freaking full! But, always in the mood for pictures... But, of course....!

I'll just end with this pictures, we took a walk around the lakeside to enjoy the breeze and also, to digest our food. I mean, how could we leave the place without taking pictures at the pretty lake?! Although, we couldn't really see the lake anymore :(

Oasis Taiwan Porridge
Price: S$111 for 8 dishes, all medium sized orders, 10 people (Reasonable!)
Dishes by itself are normal and regularly priced like other restuarants, 1 dish about S$6 for small portion and above.
Where: Oasis Taiwan Porridge (Address given as below)

Verdict: Neutral

Overall, nothing very fancy, it was just satisfying enough and warmed my tummy for the night, just like any other restaurants.

As much as I think the price for the food is reasonable, I feel that such simple fares which didn’t give me that ‘WOW’ factor, is not very worth the bucks. I could find better places, serving the same types of Taiwan porridge dishes, and nearer to my home.
