thai lovin' queens
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THAI FOOD!
I INDULGE IN THAI FOOD!
I GO GREAT LENGTHS TO FIND GOOD THAI FOOD!
So, I tried out the Thai Food @ Sunshine Plaza after hearing raves about it. To my surprise, there are actually 3 Thai food restaurants in the same stretch so I ended up having to depend on my gut feel to make the final decision as to where to dine. It was a tough decision, eventually, we settled for the one in the middle, Thai Gold Food (formerly known as Sbey Sbey Thai Food) simply because there were more people. Crowd matters - good crowd = good food, I suppose!
the place - unpretentious and simple decor
Just a group of Thai people who love cooking their homeland food served specially for you...
free sides to add!
Ya Ting & I got ourselves a table and decided to start ordering. We were spoilt for choices, but ended up with the typical dishes that both of us like. It's easy to eat with my thaifood buddy, cause we love the almost exact thai food dish. And to compare fairly which thai restaurant is the best in my opinion, you gotta order the same dishes!
We didn't have to wait for long for the yummy food to be served, which is good because us gluttons were super hungry that night!
THAI FEAST for the queens!
Thai Mango Salad
One of the best Thai Mango Salad ever! It was lightly sourish and very refreshing as an appetiser. I always order this so that I can eat it together with my tunghoon or order dishes, to make it less plain and more appetizing for the tummy! It may not be the most authentic mango salad, but I loved that it was served with peanuts (through I prefer cashew nuts). I kept adding the crushed peanuts (they provided) into my salad on top of what I already had! It was super shiok, you peanut-lovers should totally try doing that too!
Thai Gold's Tung Hoon
Decently nice, but no big deal! Nothing much to comment about it. Remb to squeeze the lime for nicer taste, if you like it! Overall, it still can't beat Tanjong Pagar market's version.
Otah
Served in an aluminum swan figurine, I have to admit I was impressed with its presentation! However, the otah itself was rather disappointing. It tasted more like coconut curry egg instead of the normal otah-otah. They were very much generous with the ingredients inside - fishcakes, fish, sotong, egg, vegetables etc. I doubt I'll order this dish again on my next trip there.
Tom Yum (Clear) Seafood Soup
Served clay pot style, I had high hopes for this dish. However, it turned out tasting more like instant tom yum soup made from the cubes/paste bought from the supermarkets. Loved the king prawns through! Decent & typical, it was a little sour. However, it wasn't fantastic at all!
