X-Caliber Camp AY11/12
Over the weekends, despite busy fretting over the ultimate CEM project & sulking over how I screwed up my exams, I let loose... as much as I didn't want to & couldn't.
Because, I had Subcomm Camp. BSC Event #4.
Phew! So glad it's over...
I know it's weird for me, a countless time camp go-er to be saying this. But, for real. I hate camps. I only like the beforemath & aftermath of it (dinners, empire identity, making new friends) Who the hell likes waking up and so early in the morning, screaming cheers like noone's business, running under the sun at risk of getting heatstroke, playing typical senseless games which u play repeatedly because every camp has it).
At least for me, I don't like it. It's a waste of time. I rather be spending that time sleeping at home or travelling or shopping. I THINK I'M GETTING GROWING OLDER AND CAMPS ARE JUST A CHILD'S PLAY TO ME. That's just me, my opinion. You can choose to disagree.
Ohyes, maybe the only slight comfort during camps is eating cup noodles and drinking drinks from the vending machine... things I seldom get to do;camps are the perfect excuses to consume them... try diff flavours! haha!
Having said that, I'll just share about my camp experience.
Was assigned to head Programme team. My 2nd attempt being in Programme. Ever since I got into Maincomm, it's been a long since since I was just a normal camper. But well, I'm enjoying being a non-normal camper & that's all good.
My progheads this time round are Brenda, Fiona & Kah Hui.
Recruited the usual proggers, more experienced this time round. Couldn't stand any mistakes, not with only less than a month to go for planning & all, before camp commences. Of course, in spite of that fact, I decided to get some new blood into the Prog team, to groom them. If not now, when? (:
Being in Programme, also means, double the meetings DURING camp & quadruplet prog meeting times. Yes, what a way to phrase it. But without fail every day during camp it becomes a routine. Prog debriefing then Maincomm debriefing. It gets really TIRED & SHAG, especially when you do not look forward to it. As much as I may not enjoy the job at times, these group of proggers made my efforts worthwhile!
Camp was a success. Everyone enjoyed themselves. To me, it wasn't as hyped up as last year but still goodjob everyone!
AS FOR THE SUBCOMMS. Now the utmost importance is how to retain them.
Every year without fail the trend is, we start with 200+ subcomms, all quite active for the first few events but by the end of the AY, we are left with just a clique/group of them for our events and those are probably the ones who are interested in running for the main committee of the next AY. I don't know about this year, all I now for now is we are blessed with very awesome enthu subcomms.
Many of them have so much potential.
To the extend, looking at them, sometimes,
I question myself I'm even good enough to be their so called maincomm, let alone the BSC President. haha. Ohwells, thank god for them.
Presenting to you my very own BSC Main Committee of AY11/12
Yes folks, we're done. 1 event down. Alot more to come, G to the -O GO Let's Gooooo!
